Beyond the CMC-specific clubs, the Claremont Colleges have a host of 5C organizations. The members of these groups include students from Pomona, Pitzer, Claremont McKenna, Scripps, and Harvey Mudd. All events and programs hosted through these groups cater to students across the 5C’s. All 5C organizations are recognized through the Associated Students of Pomona College. Club Recognition
Annual Organization Recognition is required for previously chartered clubs who would like to remain active in the current academic year. Below are the requirements for annual recognition, as well as the consequences should your organization fail to meet them.
2020-2021 deadline for recognition is August 15. If your club did not complete the recognition application by August 15, you will need to begin the Charter Application again.
Steps for Annual Recognition
- Review Student Activities policies.
- Become familiar with institutional policies, specifically student organization policies for officers and activities, to ensure that the proposed organization will adhere to expectations for the entire CMC community.
- Policies can be found here.
- Complete Application for Recognition
- Student organizations are chartered only once but must complete a registration form, club leader orientation, and roster each year. To become a recognized student organization, you must complete the Application for Recognition. This online form will require an updated roster and constitution in order to be submitted.
- Failure to complete the Recognition Application will result in a loss of charter and annual budget. Clubs who fail to complete the Recognition Application, who wish to remain active, must submit a new charter application and request discretionary funding.
- Recognition form can be found here.
- Complete the mandatory Club Leader Orientation
- Approved organizations’ officers will complete an online club orientation. A minimum of two officers are required to complete the orientation. As soon as the organization completes the training requirement, it may begin/resume operating and meeting.
- Failure to complete the online Club orientation will result in a budget freeze and may result in the inability to reserve spaces on campus.
- Host a table at the Fall and Spring Club Fair
- All recognized campus organizations must host a table at the Fall and Spring Club Fair which takes place in the first two weeks of the semester. Organizations must have two members present at all times to answer questions, receive sign ups, and talk about the organization to prospective members.
- Failure to host a table at the Fall Clubs Fair will result in a rescindment of budget money for meetings in September of that year. ($60 maximum)
Workshops and Training Sessions
The Club Leader Orientation is a mandatory student organization training that prepares organization leaders to better understand Student Activities policy, event registration procedures, and the ASCMC budget and reimbursement process. It is mandatory for a student organization to have two leaders complete this training session once a year in order to be informed and educated on how to best lead and protect their organization. Information about new club workshops and opportunities will be sent out in the Club Inform.

Chartering a student organization at CMC presents an incredible opportunity to serve the campus community, develop new leadership skills, and enrich your college experience. Becoming a chartered student organization at CMC provides a unique opportunity for students to reserve spaces around campus, register and host events, use the CMC name and logo for recognition and promotion, as well as to apply for funding through ASCMC. Recognized student organizations have access to Student Activities and ASCMC resources and workshop series, as well as event and organization consultation. The following steps are required to charter a recognized student organization.
New Club Charter applications are accepted on a rolling basis during the school year.
- Review Student Activities Organization policies
- Become familiar with institutional policies, specifically student organization policies for officers and activities, to ensure that the proposed organization will adhere to expectations for the entire CMC community.
- Complete application for charter
- Student organizations are only chartered once. After an organization has been chartered, they will renew their active status once a year using the Application for Recognition form. The charter application will require a list of club leaders, a roster, and a constitution.
- If you need assistance with writing a constitution, please use these sample constitutions or feel free to contact Student Activities or the ASCMC Vice President of Campus Organizations.
- Submit application
- Submit the forms electronically through the Application Charter form
- The application will be reviewed by the Assistant Director of Student Activities and the ASCMC Vice President of Campus Organizations. If the application is approved for charter, you will receive an email confirmation and the link to complete the online Club Orientation. Before your application is chartered, you may be required to meet with the ASCMC Vice President of Campus Organizations or the Assistant Director of Student Activities.
- Complete the Club Leader Orientation
- Approved organizations’ officers will complete a club and organizations training to prepare them to lead a successful organization. A minimum of two officers are required to complete the orientation annually. As soon as the organization completes the training requirement, it may begin/resume operating and meeting.

Speaker: Phil Rosenkrantz
Dating Club Claremont California Weather
The 73-year Journey to Find a Missing-In-Action World War II Paratrooper Staff Sergeant David Rosenkrantz from Los Angeles, CA, was a paratrooper Missing-In-Action during Operation Market Garden in Holland during World War II. He was missing for 73 years and, sadly, the family did not know what happened to him. After seeing the movie Saving Private Ryan in 1998, David’s nephew, Phil Rosenkrantz, began to search for answers. Letters From Uncle Dave is the story of the Rosenkrantz family’s journey to achieve closure and chronicles Phil’s 20-year quest to find out what happened to his uncle. This unique presentation features Dave’s family story, service, and the mystery behind what happened that took 73 years to reveal.
Dr. Phil Rosenkrantz is a devoted educator with a passion for lifelong learning and promoting student success. He especially enjoys traveling and annual backpacking trips. Phil is an avid volunteer with many years of service to the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association (U.S. Forest Service), Boy Scouts, Eastside Christian Schools, the American Society for Quality, and Special Olympics. He is Professor Emeritus of Engineering at California State Polytechnic University Pomona, where he taught for over 35 years. Prior to teaching, Phil worked for General Motors for ten years in engineering and management.
Phil has been recognized professionally for his contributions to teaching and the engineering profession. He speaks regularly to schools and organizations on topics related to his Uncle David, study skills, teamwork, quality management, leadership, and backpacking on the John Muir Trail. Phil holds degrees from Kettering (BSME), Purdue (MSIA), UC Riverside (MS), and Pepperdine Universities (Ed.D).

1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23th – “Keeping Up With Climate Change” on Zoom*
Speaker: Dr. Lelia Hawkins, Associate Professor of Chemistry, Harvey Mudd College
Dating Club Claremont California
Professor Hawkins’s areas of current research involve the interplay between air pollution and climate change. In particular, she has worked to understand how emissions and atmospheric reactions lead to particulate matter that might either exacerbate, or offset, global warming associated with climate change. She is also dedicated to climate change awareness and communication, environmental justice, and advances in air pollution measurement technology. Each time she prepares her introductory climate change course she finds that half of her material is outdated. From key policies, to the status of our ice sheets, to the promise of carbon negative technologies, it seems that each passing year asks us to rethink what we “know” about climate change, offering reasons for optimism as well as despair. Her talk will highlight some areas of climate change (from science to policy) that are shifting rapidly and worthy of our attention.
